Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Diffuse Reflectance Infrared Fourier Transforms Spectroscopy (DRIFTS) and X ray diffraction (XRD) were used in conjunction to characterise oil shale samples from an Australian Tertiary oil shale deposit.
